HPTLC history, definition and parameters will no longer be lost in translation for Russian speaking readers

The NIS (Newly Independent States) chapter of the HPTLC Association recently published the entry "High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC)" in the Russian Wikipedia. This publication represents an important achievement of the NIS Chapter towards the harmonized and standardized use of HPTLC, and accessibility to reliable information for Russian-speaking countries.

The president of the NIS chapter of the HPTLC Association, Dr. Kateryna Khokhlova, is happy to announce the publication of the entry "High-performance thin-layer chromatography" in the Russian Wikipedia.

Besides telling the story of its evolution and defining the HPTLC concept according to the information in the HPTLC Association, the American and European pharmacopoeias, the publication contains information about:

  • HPTLC in pharmacopoeial analysis and international compendia;
  • Principles of the technique;
  • HPTLC plates;
  • Typical HPTLC instruments;
  • Applications

The objective of this publication was to create awareness among Russian-speaking readers about the standardized use of HPTLC and for educational purposes.

The entry is linked to the Russian entry for conventional TLC and HPTLC entries in other languages (e.g., German, Italian, and English).

Dr. Kateryna Khokhlova is an Associate Professor at the National University of Pharmacy – Ukraine, and her research is focused on the HPTLC analysis of herbal drugs. In November 2019, she assumed the position of Secretary General and President of the NIS chapter.

Débora Frommenwiler is a scientist at the CAMAG laboratory in Switzerland, and her research is focused on the applications of HPTLC in the herbal drugs field. In July 2020, she became the Scientific Secretary of the HPTLC Association.
